About Marc Kitano, LMFT

Marc Kitano's Bio

I am Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the states of Texas, California, Florida and Virginia. I hold a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. My baccalaureate studies included Human Development and Christian Ministry. I am an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Air Force.   


I specialize in counseling children, adolescents and adults with mood disorders, anxiety, depression and traumatic experiences. I am frequently court appointed as counselor to children and adults in high conflict transitions, parent reunification, parent facilitation and parent coordination. I have been professionally trained in treating victims of trauma and abuse and further training treating trauma among children on the autism spectrum. I also received formal training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).    


I am a member of American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, Association of Family and Conciliation Courts and Texas Association of Family Forensics.

Marc Kitano is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. The Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council investigates and prosecutes professional misconduct committed by marriage and family therapists, professional counselors, psychologists, psychological associates, social workers, and licensed specialists in school psychology. Although not every complaint against or dispute with a licensee involves professional misconduct, the Executive Council will provide you with information about how to file a complaint.

Privacy


Privacy notices are commonplace in this day and age, but you should be concerned about who has access to your information and how that information might be used. Texas requires virtually anyone who professionally comes in contact with your health information and who uses a computer to provide you notice regarding electronic disclosure of records. Know Your Rights

  1. Request Your Health Care Records
    You have the right to request your health care records from me. Please ask for a Consent to Release Information Form, which must be completed and submitted to obtain records. Records will be released within the mandated timeframe set by the State of Texas after the signed release is received.
  2. File a Consumer Complaint
    To file a complaint, please submit your concerns to the therapist. Should the outcome not be satisfactory, you have the right to contact the Office of the Attorney General at: Consumer Protection | Office of the Attorney General  
  3. Contacting the Licensing Authority for a Therapist
    You have the right to contact the licensing authority for your therapists.
